The Earth Explorer project is the brainchild of Belgium 's first astronaut, Dirk Frimout.
" Mission to Planet Earth" was the name of the NASA space expedition (STS-Atlantis 45) on which Dirk Frimout flew in 1992. With this new, science-based attraction he wanted to let everyone experience the four great natural forces that have shaped our planet: earth, water, fire and wind.
